Dear Friends of First UMC of Milton:

Greetings in the name of the Lord.  God continues to use us in His ministry in many wonderful ways.  In January I sent in our 2009 report to Annual Conference.  Of course, statistics never can fully define the life and spirit of a church, but they do reveal something of its ministry.  In terms of membership, we began 2009 with 534 members and ended with 536. We received 5 on profession of faith, eight from other UM churches, and three from other denominations.  We had one withdrawal, five transferred to other UM churches; we lost seven

by death; one transferred to another denomination.  Our average attendance at all worship services was 235.  One of the most exciting numbers for me is that I baptized fifteen people - includes adults, youth and infants.  In the stewardship of giving we received $380,954 for the General Budget.  Included in that amount is $59,888 for Conference Missional Giving and $15,000 for other mission projects.  In addition, $62,946 were given to the Building Fund, making our total giving $443,900.

This report indicateds that First UMC takes seriously stewardship responsibility.  The truth of our Christian faith is that we are simply stewards, "care-takers", of what God has provided.

Beginning Sunday, February 21, we will be considering our stewardship for 2010.  The theme is "The Ministry of Our Gifts".  For four Sundays we will celebrate the different ministries our gifts of prayer, money, presence, service and witness make possible.  Hope you will join us on this journey and be asking God what He wants to do through you this year in stewardship for His church.

We are here to provide a place for you to have a vital relationship with God through worship, fellowship and service.

                                                                        May God Bless,

                                                                        Pastor Shelton
